I would like to say Dan embellished his father's carving skills, but alas, I cannot. He could pound the hell out of a round steak, though.

So good!! Happy Thanksgiving! (How’d the turkey trot go???)

This year's Turkey Trot was a bit of a bust, unfortunately. Rainy, cold, and I was too nervous about carving my turkey to run 5k. Ha! (2 of those 3 things are true)

Love this, bravo! I, for one, think I'm an excellent turkey carver and a so-so fundraiser...too bad turkey carving is only once a year for me! ;)

If you've got some turkey carving secrets, Liz, then spill it! You saw the mess I made of my turkey!

I can totally visualize the Thanksgiving of your youth - you are such a great writer, and I look forward to your book.

Thanks so much, Julie! We'll get a couple turkey sandwiches at the The Nutcracker next time I'm in Rochester!

So funny! My mom always forgets to take out the cranberry relish and it had become a joke in our family. She forgot to bring it to my brothers house in NJ but since I was in charge here in MD we got to enjoy her recipe since I never forget a thing (which isn’t always a good thing) since I get a bit stressed out making sure everything is perfect.

I see a podcast in Child #1's future. Very impressive. Look out Joe Rogan.

My family’s philosophy has always been: none of us like turkey, so let’s not get one. To all the turkey-eaters I ask, “it is worth the hassle?” Why subject yourselves to hours of prep and cooking, and the frustration of carving for that vague, minimal taste?

I feel like I've eaten turkey with you. That I've made. The hassle is what makes it delicious. Tears are like gravy. Remember I said that everybody

How the turkey is cooked has a lot to do with the carving, or as our turkey this year, pulled apart. Not cooked by me, e a great brine and as tender and juicy as one can imagine.

Great post Dan. Enjoyed reading. I will catch up with the audio, when i am in a warmer spot.

I think a lot of Fundraising for Breakfast readers would like to know where you're reading these posts, Dave, that you need to find a warmer spot. Please share

Since you asked, I am in the Allegheny National Forest, trying to put meat on the table. 7 degrees F, with the wind chill. At least the we are far enough south from Lake Erie, we are not bogged down with snow!

I prefer the “Feminist” way of Turkey carving - I “empower” my wife to do it. Nothing like watching someone with Parkinson’s disease come at you with a huge sharp knife after a long day of cooking. 😳😂

You're the best feminist I know, JP. (Did you catch Child #1's call out about the TV?)
